4 million child molesters reside in the USA, and each will abuse 30-60 children before they are arrested.

In 80% of abductions by strangers, the first contact occurs within a quarter mile of the child's home.

74% of children who are murdered as a result of an abduction by a stranger are killed within the first three hours.

There were as many as 114,600 attempted abductions of children by non-family members, 4,600 abductions by non-family members reported to police, and 300 abductions by non-family members where the children were gone for long periods of time or were murdered.

An estimated 797,500 children were reported missing

58,200 children were abducted by non-family members

115 children were the victims of the most serious, long-term non-family abductions called "stereotypical kidnappings". Stereotypical kidnappings are abductions perpetrated by a stranger or slight acquaintance and involving a child who was transported 50 or more miles, detained overnight, held for ransom or with the intent to keep the child permanently, or killed.

In 40% of stereotypical kidnappings, the child was killed, and in another 4 percent, the child was not recovered.

Nearly half of all child victims of stereotypical kidnappings and non-family abductions were sexually assaulted by the perpetrator.

203,900 children were the victims of family abductions.

Good Knight Child Empowerment Network ( goodknight.org )

The Good Knight Child Empowerment Network, Inc. (the "Network"), a 501(c)3 non-profit public service organization, was founded in 1985 by a group of retired law enforcement and military officers. The Network is dedicated to empowering children and adults to become champions, active citizens and protectors through education. Through the use of a multi-cultural knighthood theme, the Program entrusts "Good Knights" with a quest to protect others by preventing crimes and violence against children. Good Knights learn to protect themselves, their friends and their families by learning the ten basic deceptions that negative individuals use to lure children into gangs, drug use, abuse, crime and violence.
